Loup City Butterfly Garden Tours Offered

Environmentalist, gardeners, students, teachers, and community members are invited to attend a three-four hour Butterfly Garden Tour on Saturday, October 8, 2016 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Interested parties are asked to meet at the Sherman County Historical Society at 133 S 8th St in Loup City at 2:15 p.m. to ensure plenty of time for introductions before the informational session begins. Plans for the afternoon include a short butterfly and pollinator information session and then visiting six-seven gardens in the Loup City area. Participants will learn the importance of butterfly/pollinator gardens, and get first-hand experience with butterfly and plant identification and importance.

The instructor for the day will be Amy Hughes, Entomologist, Loup River Scenic Byway Butterfly Garden Educator/Certifier, Keep Loup Basin Beautiful Project Coordinator, Mom, Waitress, Sales Clerk and Farm/Rancher.

This is the second stop on the Butterfly Garden Tours being offered along the Loup River Scenic By-way. Gardens locations range from Bartlett to Taylor and from Burwell to Cairo. Please watch for upcoming tour information in your area!!

Butterfly Garden Tour To Be Offered

Environmentalist, gardeners, students, teachers, and community members are invited to attend a two hour Butterfly Garden Tour on Monday, September 12, 2016 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interested parties are asked to meet at the Loup River Scenic Byway Interpretive Center at 330 Hwy 11, Burwell at 1:45 p.m. to ensure plenty of time for introductions before the informational session begins. Plans for the afternoon include a short butterfly and pollinator information session and then visiting three or four gardens in the Burwell area. Participants will learn the importance of butterfly/pollinator gardens, get first-hand experience with butterfly and plant identification and importance, and will receive FREE seed packets to plant/disperse as they choose.

The instructor for the day will be Amy Hughes, Entomologist, Loup River Scenic Byway Butterfly Garden Educator/Certifier, Keep Loup Basin Beautiful Project Coordinator, Mom, Waitress, Sales Clerk and Farm/Rancher.
