Lions Clubs International was founded in 1917. Lions have worked with project designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye care and eye health for 100 of millions of people worldwide. The recycled eyeglasses go to 18 centers worldwide.
Recreational camps are customized to meet with special needs of adults and children who are blind or who have severe vison loss. With input from experts such as: physicians, departments and ministries of health, and local foundations.
Eyeglasses Recycling- how you can help by donating your used eyeglasses you no longer need. Lions accept prescription, reading glasses, and sunglasses. They accept plastic or metal frames. The Lions are asking especially for children’s glasses.
The World Health Organization estimated 360 million people worldwide who have a disabling hearing loss. Current annual production of Hearing Aids meets less than 10% of the global needs. The Hearing Aid Recycling Program (HARP) lets Lions provide refurnished, affordable hearing aids with limited financial resources. Hearing Aid Recycling Program Centers can be found in Canada and the United States.
